A lifelong dream was realized in 2006 with the opening of Nita's Sweet Bean Cafe in Ft. Myers, Florida. Providing a warm and welcoming place for local artists (musicians and visual artists), the Cafe became the vehicle for the development of an artisan community, serving the Ft. Myers area. From local artists to nationally touring musicians, Nita's became a well-known and highly valued venue that developed an extended family of artists and patrons.
Musicians at Nita's ranged from first time amateurs to seasoned professionals and represented a wide variety of musical styles and traditions. The Open Mic nights and spotlight performances that presented a wonderful opportunity for the musicians to present their original work.
The goal of providing a supportive community for artists and the Ft. Myers community was achieved. However, circumstances and opportunities took us in a different direction.
On April 30, 2011, Nita's Sweet Bean Cafe closed it's doors. Still passionate about providing area resident's the opportunity to experience their wonderful local artists, we began a new phase of this journey, in May of 2011.
Nita's Music Connection, inc. aka - SWFL MUSIC continue's its mission by connecting local musicians to several supportive venues in the area who host Open Mic nights and other music nights. In this way, area residents have even greater acess to live local music.
Nita continues the tradition of promoting local musicians in local venues and for private events. DJ and sound services and coordination of meeting/event space are also available.
